Garnishment: A procedure through which a debtor’s property is attached by a creditor while it is in the hands of third person, such as the debtor’s employer. Grand jury: A body of local citizens who hear an ex parte presentation of evidence by a prosecuting attorney and who must then determine whether the evidence is sufficient to indict, or officially charge, the suspect with a specific crime. |
