- The
jurisdiction of these courts covers minor civil matters, small claims
proceedings, traffic and parking violations, minor criminal matters
such as misdemeanors and violations, local ordinances and the processing
of arrests and criminal warrants. Town and Village Courts may also
handle preliminary proceedings in felony cases.
- Jury
trials are held in these courts and jurors are summoned to report
directly to the court. The jury allowance for town and village court
jurors is determined and paid by the town and villager.
